Do the shuffle

I have been collecting 70s macrame for a while now and have just decided that they are not going to fit into my overall design aesthetic in our house. It saddens me because I love them so much, but feel they are not quite right. So off to the shop they go.

Four pieces in a small but rare Saturday update.

On the wall

I Recently purchased Chuck Close's 'Cindy' for my stairwell which is has gotten a coat of bright white paint and new cork floors. Better Wall is a website that offers large and sometimes giant Museum banners from some of the best shows and museums around the world.

The large display banners are almost indestructible, are in excellent condition, ship for free, come with free hanging hardware that "floats" the banner away from the wall and partial proceeds return to the museums for future exhibitions.

Some of my favorites above: Chuck Close- Cindy ~ Greene and Greene- Chair
Martin Puryear (whom I have had the pleasure of hearing speak) ~ Etienne Meneau Carafe No. 5

and if I had an industrial studio space for vintage
I would get one of these:

Fashioning Fashion: Robe à L'anglaise - or - Yves Saint Laurent Feather Dress

The website offers mockups of the banners in a home setting as well

In love right now

Henry Thoreau Library candles from paddywax

My desk smells so good right now.

Sour Cherry Preserves from Austria's Staud's Wien
Celebrating Gustav Klimt - all of the little jars have Klimt on the lid
Had some this morning with grainy mustard and artichoke chicken sausage for breakfast!

with making these wood specimen necklaces and I just got some new wood shavings I can't wait to see under glass.

with these worn out decorative spines of these James Whitcomb Riley books
that I am listing in the NC home shop today

this corner of my desk makes me smile this morning. I found the large vintage tin at the thrift for 18.00 after I saw the EXACT same one in the Anthropologie store in Dallas for 80.00...good feeling.

Home Shop Update

I am really into my home shop these days. Probably because I have finally found a steady supply of goods about a mile away from my house. A standing vintage appointment should keep me going for months.
Right above are vintage Jazz Horn Mutes. Don't know why I love them so much, but they kind of look like party hats AND they are JAZZ horn mutes. How cool is that?
