Monday sneak peek

I spent most of the daylight hours taking photos, so much more to do tomorrow. Hopefully I can start listing these items my Tuesday evening. These are some of my favorites, enjoy!

A little d i y

 

I know that EVERYONE has a terrarium now, but I came across this large blown glass apple a few weeks back at the thrift and I just couldn't resist. Also I like the idea of having a centerpiece for the dining room table that doesn't require much upkeep. 

I ordered a mix of succulent cuttings from The Succulent Garden on Etsy and they came lickedy split. I followed the instructions she gave for the 1/2 potting soil and 1/2 perlite mix and topped off with some pebbles.

I made a second one for my studio upstairs with some of my own cuttings (the baby toes are my favorite). I put those into a vintage bulb jar and topped off with a hurricane lamp and small wooden ball as seen in the one below from West Elm last year.

You can easily find these hurricane glass covers in many shapes and sizes. I love the idea of controlling the humidity by removing the wooden ball on days you water to prevent condensation on the inside.

I have shown some more here that may eventually go into the home shop with vintage tin baking cups as little planters.

Close to home

 

Last weekend the Etsy Denton members had a great showing at the local arts center. While I had to work the entire day, I did find some time to go down the block and show my support.

I came away with these finds and met some wonderful people as well. I am so completely in love with the 1940s celluloid and rhinestone buttons turned hairpins from Blossom Shop.

The rhinestone pave earrings are also from the 40's and I can't believe my luck in finding them. From a good friend and cute vintage shop called Beth aka Betty Vintage.

The last thing I found was pure serendipity. I have long needed a wrapping station for packages and the occasional cutting of small fabrics, this one is made from reclaimed industrial materials and

even has a handy place to put my customs labels etc.

A little theme I discovered while listing and taking photos yesterday and this morning.

My favorite is the vintage Queen Mary tin and I just keep falling more and more in love with the Edwardian Era since watching Downton Abbey. This will be the second tea dress in the shop and I still have one more to list. Might have to hold on to that one for a while though.

Once a girl scout...

 

always a girl scout. My favorite badges were the wildlife and science badges. I think that is why I collect things and then proceed to classify and catalog them.  I found a little glass top shadow box and I keep it full of bits and baubles on my work table in the studio until I know what to do with them. I also have started a little collection of blown glass bird vases that I use for cuttings and propagation of succulents. The first picture is a collection of things I found in the backyard within about ten minutes of each other, robin's eggs and wren eggs.  The last is some amazing vintage Girl Scout fabric I found from the late 50's.
